FC Slutsk Recent Form
We head into game week 8 in Belarus with FC Slutsk sitting at the top of the Belarusian Premier League. They come here after winning their last three games and are also five games unbeaten. They have been beaten once in their first seven, there is not a team in better form right now.
They are also excelling in front of goal. With 14 goals from their seven games, they are averaging two goals per game in what is traditionally a low scoring league. This is the best in the division right now, with the next best three behind that total.
A 2-1 victory away at Dinamo Minsk last weekend ensured that Slutsk remained on top, and it will be interesting to see how long this team can continue their run, with some bigger names chasing them down.
Energetik-BGU Recent Form
It has been a very strange start for Energetik-BGU, though to their credit they have done enough to put themselves up in 4th position. They have won four and lost three so far, but it is the manner and pattern of those games that is a little strange.
The season began well, with three straight wins. Two of those wins came with a clean sheet attached too, which was a great start for their defence. However, they then lost three games in a row and did not score a goal in any of those defeats.
That brings us to last weekend when a 2-0 away win against Smolevichi got them back to winning ways. In their four wins, they have kept three clean sheets while in their three defeats, they have not scored a goal, so inconsistency is clearly an issue here.
FC Slutsk vs Energetik-BGU Match Prediction
This isn’t the easiest game to predict. Slutsk are the form team of the moment in Belarus and deservedly lead the league at this point. Energetik-BGU have shown their ability to not only win games but also to keep clean sheets. That will be tough going up against the league’s top scorers, but three clean sheets so far this season will give them confidence.
Having said that, they are not the most consistent team, as we saw when they lost three games in a row. With no goals scored and six conceded in that period, their limitations were exposed, and we believe that Slutsk will be able to do the same on Friday afternoon when these two met.
The home side are really riding on the crest of a wave right now and should enjoy it for as long as it lasts.
Their start to the season can continue to push them forward for now, and for that reason, we are siding with Slutsk to take all three points from the first game of the weekend in Belarus.
